
George “Dick” Heydon, 81, of Indianapolis, died on October 30, 2014. Dick was born on August 18, 1933 in Indianapolis to Kenneth and Mary Heydon. He was a 1951 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-1954 having served in the Korean War. After his military service, Dick was a mechanic before beginning his career at Indianapolis Public Schools in 1971. Dick worked for IPS as a carpenter for 25 years retiring in 1996.
In his younger years, he was known to host many parties. He was an avid bowler, softball player and millwright. He was a huge sports fan, especially enjoying the Colts.
Dick is survived by his sister Marilyn Librers, son Richard Heydon, son-in-law Daniel Heneghan, granddaughters Theresa (Charles) Heneghan, Lisa Heneghan, Kayla Heydon, Hannah Heydon, two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Virginia Cottrill, and daughter Jennifer Heneghan.
Visitation will be held in Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indpls on Thursday, November 6 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following.
